The science is clear: emissions from ship and port activities are damaging to public health. Because this pollution is emitted in urban areas in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region, the impact on health is disproportionate compared with other pollution sources. Regulators need scientific data to inform policy, and this region-specific research is beginning to emerge.
